Guaranteed Basic Income
Life after incarceration is often financially and emotionally difficult, marked by distinct struggles to find employment, permanent housing, and a sense of belonging. Many fall back into the criminal justice system soon after release. Could a county-led guaranteed basic income (GBI) - a program of unconditional, monthly cash transfers - be the solution?
The Santa Clara County Office of Diversion and Reentry, in conversation with panelists Marissa Aranda from Turn Behavioral Health Services and Kevin Scott from Just Income, invites the community to join this roundtable and Q&A on how a GBI program could help formerly incarcerated individuals rebuild their lives.
