If God had told me that I was going to be incarcerated, I would have told him, no way! I am not saying that I enjoyed it nor am I saying that I would do it again. What I am saying is that sometimes incarceration is used for us to take time out of life and reflect on what is important and to see where it is we really want to be. The experience of being incarcerated helped me change and pave the way to success. I am grateful to be able to use my testimony to help those who find themselves in the same situation I found myself in at one point in life. Since I was released, I got employed by a reentry program that I once used as a client. I am currently employed at the Good Samaritan Project. I also utilized the Peer Mentor Program with San José City College and completed it. Recently I joined the Lived Experience Advisory Board. I am excited to be involved in helping make a difference in the justice system. I am also excited to be able to grow and be an example and living proof that no matter where you come form or what you do, if you are willing to, you can reach the top.
