Adult Treatment Court
The Santa Clara County Adult Treatment Court (ATC) programs are implemented to address the needs of individuals that present with identified mental health symptoms and diagnoses, substance use disorders, or both to ensure the unique treatment needs of each participant is met with the appropriate resources and level of care. The mission of all ATC programs is to integrate substance abuse and mental health treatment with judicial supervision for the promotion of public safety, individual responsibility, ongoing recovery, and reduction of recidivism. ATC consists of a variety of specialty calendars that include:
- Veteran Treatment Court
- Parole Reentry Court
- Developmentally Disabled Court
- Incompetent to Stand Trial (IST) Treatment Court
Eligibility and referral process
Eligibility is determined and referrals are made by the Superior Court, Probation or Parole, Public Defender Office and/or the Office of the District Attorney

Community Accountability Program
Helps reduce costs for court proceedings and incarceration. Ensures accountability, where appropriate, which may require restitution, reduces recidivism by providing classroom instruction. The client must remain crime free for four months. The main offenses are petty theft, vandalism, and trespassing. If a person successfully completes the program, charges will not be filed.
Eligibility and referral process
Eligibility for this diversion program is determined by the District Attorney’s Office. All clients must be referred by the District Attorney’s Office.
